Levan Andria
Cello
Levan Andria began studying cello at the age of 15, first as a pre-college student and then as a full-fledged student, until 2020, under Professor Conradin Brotbek at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts, who fully ignited his early passion for music. He became a multiple prize winner at the "Jugend musiziert" competition, winning first prize with 25 points at the national level in 2013 in both the cello solo and piano trio categories. In 2014, Levan Andria received a prize from the German Musical Instrument Fund of the Stiftung Musikleben (Foundation for Musical Life) in Hamburg. From 2017 to 2019, he continued his studies at the Ziryab Academy with Zaza Miminoshvili, focusing on improvisation and various world music styles. From 2018 to 2023, Levan Andria also studied Indian classical music and improvisation with the North Indian flautist Dinesh Mishra.
Concert tours have taken him to Malta, Georgia and China, among other places. In addition to his intensive artistic work as a performer and composer in the Duo Flying Tree, he is the cellist in the SOUNDRISE QUARTET and a member of the band LEPP LIVE. Levan Andria is a sought-after guest soloist in creative projects, such as the Markus Stockhausen Group, where he appears on Markus Stockhausen's latest CD, ‘Celebration’. Levan Andria has also performed with renowned musicians such as Randy Brecker and Nguyên Lê.
Since meeting Stephanie Lepp in 2017, Levan Andria's artistic focus has increasingly been on composing, improvising and producing his own music, which has already led to numerous CD productions and several guest appearances on CD recordings.
Levan Andria works as a freelance creative cellist, teaches cello and improvisation, and delights audiences with his distinctive cello playing.
